Juan Lacaze is a city in southern Uruguay .
geography
The city lies in the territory of the Department of Colonia in its sector 14 . Juan Lacaze is located on the coast of the Río de la Plata east of the city of Colonia del Sacramento and southwest of Colonia Cosmopolita . The distance to the eastern state capital Montevideo is almost 150 km. The port of Juan Lacaze is near the mouth of the Arroyo Sauce . A few kilometers east of the city is the mouth of the Río Rosario . The Cañada de Blanco stream also runs through the urban area .
history
On May 8, 1953 Juan Lacaze was raised to the status of a Ciudad (city) by the legal regulation of the Ley 11,934 . The city's name is derived from Juan Luis Lacaze .
