Career

society

The 1.78 meter tall midfielder "Palomo" Rodríguez was at the beginning of his career from mid-1999 to the end of 2001 in the ranks of Huracán Buceo's team . In the 2000 and 2001 seasons he made a total of 55 first division appearances and ten goals. In the following two years he was active at Nacional Montevideo (28 league games / five goals). In the first six months of 2004 he played nine games (no goal) in the Primera División for Centro Atlético Fénix . By the end of the year, eight more first division appearances (no goal) followed in ranks of Deportivo Maldonado . Until the end of April 2005 he played in Brazil with Gremio Porto Alegre . This was followed by a commitment to the South Korean club Incheon United until the end of August that year . Rodríguez then joined Defensor Sporting . In the 2005/06 season he ran in six games (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league with the Montevideans. At the beginning of April 2006 he was engaged by AA Ponte Preta . From there he returned to Uruguay in early February 2007 and was henceforth a member of the Montevideo Wanderers squad , where he scored seven goals in 21 premier league appearances in the 206/07 and 2007/08 seasons. After that, Alki Larnaka was his employer. For the Cypriots he was in four league matches (no goal) in the 2007/08 season. From 2008 to mid-January 2009, a career station at the Chilean club CD Antofagasta is managed for him, where he scored a goal this season in 15 first division appearances. Then 14 first division appearances (no goal) in the 2008/09 season and 13 (one goal) in the 2009/10 season were again recorded as a Wanderers player for him. From mid-January 2010 he continued his career in Honduras with Real España . The information on the deployment statistics there, however, differ. While on the one hand at least 28 goals scored in 152 contested league games are recorded for him across the seasons, the 104 league games with eleven goals in the last three seasons with the Hondurans are not identical. In any case, he was also used in the CONCACAF Champions League for the club. In mid-December 2015, he moved to the Uruguayan second division club Central Español . By the end of the 2016 season, he played in 23 Segunda División games at the Montevideo-based club and scored five times in the opposing goal. After this season he left the club and ended his active career.

National team

Rodríguez was part of the Uruguayan team that participated in the Pan American Games in 1999 , but did not survive the preliminary round. He made his debut on July 29, 2001 when he lost 4-5 on penalties against Honduras for third place in the 2001 Copa America under coach Víctor Púa in the Uruguayan senior team when he came on for Andrés Martínez in the 66th minute . He played his second and last international match on February 4, 2003 as part of the Carlsberg Cup in a 4-2 win against the Iranian selection. In this game, national coach Gustavo Ferrín had ordered him into the starting line-up. He did not manage to score an international goal.
