Germán Hornos , full name Germán Andrés Hornos Correa (born August 21, 1982 in San José ) is a former Uruguayan football player . Since January 28, 2006 he is also in possession of the Spanish citizenship.
Career
society
The striker began his career in his home country of Durazno . There he was discovered by a "talent scout" at a game of the U-18 department selection. At the age of 19 he moved to Montevideo to Fénix and played there until 2003. During this time he was the top scorer in the Uruguayan Primera División in 2002 with 25 goals . He then moved to Spain and was there in the Primera División for Sevilla FC . There he could not meet the expectations placed in him in the 2003/04 season, came only in 16 games in which he was only six times on the starting line-up, and scored two goals. From July 2004 he moved to Real Valladolid on loan to the Segunda División . However, his time at this club was overshadowed by a serious traffic accident in which he was involved during his time with Valladolid as part of his Christmas holiday on Christmas Eve 2004 in his Uruguayan homeland on the Rambla of the city of Durazno . He suffered life-threatening head injuries that forced him to take a one-year break from practicing his sport. Previously, he had been used 16 times in the first 18 games of the season and had scored eight goals, so that his initially unsuccessful engagement in Spain seemed to be turning for the better. After the injury-related break, however, he was no longer able to build on the performance shown. Real Valladolid extended the loan for another year and he stayed with the club until 2006. In the following years, however, he was only used twice in the second team, where he failed to score. In 2006, he returned to Uruguay on a loan deal and joined Bella Vista . In January 2007 he also moved to River Plate Montevideo on loan . His coach there was Juan Ramón Carrasco , under whose aegis he had already played during his time at Fénix. The next loan station was Central Español for six months from July 2007 . From January 2008 a station at Tacuarembó FC followed . In 2009 he moved again to Europe and joined the French club AC Arles-Avignon , but could not recommend himself there in training for the first team. Since the beginning of February 2010 he was in the service of the second division Durazno FC . With his home club, he just failed to get promoted to the Primera División. From there, the Uruguayan, who is characterized in particular by his good header game, led to Chillán in Chile to Ñublense for the 2011 season . There are reports from November 2011 that Hornos was without a club in 2011. Other sources report that his involvement with the Chilean club lasted until July 2012.
National team
From his debut on November 20, 2002 until his last appearance on March 31, 2004, he made a total of seven international matches for the Uruguayan national soccer team , in which he scored a goal. (Source: rsssf )
