Thierry Gouvenou (born May 14, 1969 in Vire ) is a former French cyclist . Since 2013 he has been working for the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) and Technical Director of the Tour de France .

Athletic career

Thierry Gouvenou was a professional cyclist from 1991 to 2002, but without being able to achieve great success. He initially drove for Team Z , together with Greg LeMond , Robert Millar and Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle , later the team was named Gan . From 1996 until the end of his career he had a contract with BigMat-Auber 93 . His greatest success was seventh at Paris – Roubaix in 2002 after winning a stage of the Tour de Normandie in 1998. He started seven times in the Tour de France; his best ranking was 59th in 1998 .

Professional

In 2004 Gouvenou joined the ASO, initially as a motorcycle companion. Since 2013 he has been Technical Director of the Tour and thus number 2 in the organization of the race behind Director Christian Prudhomme .
