Thilo Vogelsang

Thilo Vogelsang (born February 14, 1919 in Braunschweig , † April 2, 1978 in Munich ) was a German historian .

Live and act

Thilo Vogelsang studied history, German and Latin in Göttingen . In 1949 he took his doctorate , in 1951 he passed the state examination for higher library service. Then Thilo Vogelsang acted as head of the library of the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich and from 1962 as a lecturer at the Munich School of Politics . Since 1966 he had a teaching position for contemporary history at the University of Munich, in 1973 he was appointed honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich. From 1972 Thilo Vogelsang was Deputy Director of the Institute for Contemporary History .

In addition to his bibliographic work (since 1953 bibliography on contemporary history , constant supplement to the quarterly journals for contemporary history ) and numerous academic articles, the following book publications should be mentioned: “The woman as ruler in the high Middle Ages . Awards

In 1967 Thilo Vogelsang received the Richard Franck Prize for bibliographical work in the field of contemporary history, and in 1976 the Cross of Honor for Science and Art of the Republic of Austria .
