Thitz

Thitz (* the thirtieth December 1962 in Frankfurt am Main as Matthias stool ) is a German artist .

biography

From 1983 to 1989 Thitz studied painting with Professor KRH Sonderborg at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . 1989 to 1990 followed a stay at the Facultad de bellas Artes Universidad de Barcelona . Here he learned from Professor Joan Hernández Pijuan . A scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service enabled him to study again in Spain in 1990 . In 1993 he worked with the International Society of Fine Arts in Bonn . In the following years Thitz worked increasingly on projects related to his bag art, the bag projects . In 1994 he realized the bag project Objectivo la luna in Mexico and worked on the bag project Art-Politics Dialog in Germany in 1996 and 1997 . He received support here from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Family, Further Education and Art and the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry for Education, Science and Culture . In 1998 Thitz married the performance and video artist Katharina Trost (DADA) and their first daughter Lucia was born. In the same year he joined forces with Thomas Baumgärtel and MS Bastian to form the artist group Kings of Hearts . In 2001 Flatiron Magazine NY reported on a solo exhibition by the artist in the German House in New York City ( United Nations Square ). In 2004 Thitz published the book Die Thitz Welt and presented it together with his works of art in New York, Switzerland , Austria and Shanghai . 2006 was also an important year for Thitz. After the birth of his second daughter Serafina, an international series of exhibitions entitled Painted Cities started , for which a catalog was also published. In addition, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe showed the artist's work in a solo exhibition, for which a catalog was also published. After an exhibition with a bag project at the Miami Childrens Museum in 2007, the museum exhibition  Cultural Center of the City of Athens followed with a bag project and catalog. In 2009 the third daughter, Rubina, was born. In 2012 Thitz exhibited again internationally, this time in the private collector's museum  Chungdamn Art Center in the Rumian Collection in Seoul , South Korea . The title of this show was Thitz-Art saves the world .

In the course of his life, Thitz has realized many bag projects on numerous trips, including in Morocco , Spain, Iceland , Italy , Turkey , Norway , Sweden , Ecuador , India , Nepal , Guatemala , South Africa , Mexico , USA , United Arab Emirates , Tunisia , Greece and China . Thitz lives and works near Stuttgart and has a studio in Berlin.

His specialty are "bag pictures" and "bag projects". These conceptual art projects "Bag Art Projects" have already been carried out in many national and international cities and museums (e.g. Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe , Museum Goch , Cultural Center of the City of Athens , Miami Children's Museum , Alp Galleries New York , Museum Siegen , Museum Waiblingen , and much more). The households of the respective cities were filled with Thitz bags with the implied question about art. Temporary installations were created which provide a local, but currently completely unadulterated representation of the art concept of these places.
