Thomas A. Trantum

Thomas (Tad) Adron Trantum (born July 25, 1944 in Englewood, New Jersey ) is an American investment banker and entrepreneur. He was a member of the Interstate Commerce Commission from 1979 to 1981.

Life

Thomas Trantum studied at the College of Wooster from 1962 to 1966 . He graduated with a BA in Economics . He then studied at New York University until 1968 and made his Master of Business Administration . His studies were followed by his military service in the US Army Field Artillery from June 1968 to April 1971.

Act

From July 1971 to February 1978 he worked at Wainwright Securities Inc. as an analyst. He then moved to LF Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. There he also worked as an analyst specializing in airlines and freight forwarders. On May 16, 1979, President Jimmy Carter nominated the Republican for the Rupert L. Murphy seat (term ended December 31, 1985). After confirmation by the Senate, he took his oath of office on July 23, 1979. On July 31, 1981 he ended his activity in the ICC. The main topic during his tenure was deregulation in road freight transport. He was succeeded by JJ Simmons III.

Then he started working again for LF Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. While doing this, he helped fund the re-establishment of the Gulf and Mississippi Railroad in 1985. Trantum became Chief Executive Officer of this railway company, which was floated on the stock exchange in 1986 and taken over by MidSouth in April 1988 .

From 1988 to 1993 he worked for the investment company JC Bradford & Co. He then moved to the investment company Mastrapasqua Asset Management. He stayed with this company until 2006. From 2006 to 2009 he was self-employed. This was followed by a position at the financial advisor and insurance broker Waddell & Reed . He has been with Ameriprise Financial Services since June 2018 .
