Thomas Bedorf

Thomas Bedorf (* 1969 ) is a German philosopher and professor of philosophy at the Distance University in Hagen .

Life

From 1990 to 1997 he studied philosophy, Romance studies, history and political science in Münster , Bochum and Paris . From 1997 to 1998 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum ( Bernhard Waldenfels ). From 1997 to 1998 he was a member of the DFG graduate college “Phenomenology and Hermeneutics” in Bochum / Wuppertal. In 1999 he was a research fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Stony Brook University . After receiving his doctorate in 2002 as Dr. phil. at the Ruhr University in Bochum , he became a research assistant in the philosophy department, in particular practical philosophy in Hagen . After his habilitation in philosophy in 2008, he was visiting professor at the Instituto Italiano di Scienze Umane in Naples in 2009/2010 and substitute professor for political and social philosophy at the University of Vienna . In 2011 he became a professor at the Fernuniversität in Hagen. From 2015 to 2017 he was President of the German Society for Phenomenological Research (DGPF).
