Thomas Bohrer

Thomas Robert Bohrer (born August 6, 1963 in West Islip , New York ) is a former American rower and later rowing coach.

The 1.93 m tall Thomas Bohrer won the silver medal in the four without a helmsman behind the boat from the GDR and in front of the boat from the FRG at the 1988 Olympic Games together with Raoul Rodriguez , Richard Kennelly and David Krmpotich . In the following year, with John Rusher for Krmpotich, the US four won silver again behind the GDR, while the New Zealanders won bronze at the 1989 World Championships . In 1990 Thomas Bohrer rowed in the US eighth and finished fifth in this boat class at the 1990 World Championships .

In 1991 Bohrer returned to the foursome. With the cast of Thomas Bohrer, Patrick Manning , Jeffrey McLaughlin and Michael Porterfield, the boat won the silver medal behind the Australians and ahead of the German foursome. With Douglas Burden for Porterfield, Bohrer, Manning and McLaughlin took second place behind the Australians at the 1992 Olympic Games , while the Slovenes received bronze. In 1993 Bohrer was the only rower from last year's boat who was again in the foursome at the World Championships , together with Sean Hall , Jeffrey Klepacki and James Neil he won bronze behind the French and the Poles. His last international regatta rowed Bohrer at the 1994 World Championships in Indianapolis , in the two-man without helmsman he finished eighth.

Bohrer has been working as a rowing coach since the end of his career. In 2008 he started as head coach at Boston University , 2015/2016 was his eighth season in this position.
