Thomas D. Clark

Thomas Dionysius Clark (born July 14, 1903 in Louisville , Missouri , † June 28, 2005 in Lexington , Kentucky ) was an American historian .

Thomas D. Clark studied at Duke University , where he received his Ph.D. He taught at the University of Kentucky for 37 years and is the founder of the Kentucky Archives . He was also visiting professor at numerous universities, including Duke , Harvard and Stanford .

The Thomas D. Clark Kentucky Center for History in Lexington was named after Clark.

His best-known books include Travels in the Old South (1956) and Travels in the New South (1962), both published by the University of Oklahoma Press in Norman, Oklahoma .
