Thomas Dimpfl

Thomas Dimpfl (born October 30, 1961 in Würzburg ) is a German gynecologist.

Life

Thomas Dimpfl was born the son of a doctor. He passed his Abitur in 1981 and did his military service in 1982/83 . He then studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1988 he worked for 4 months at Middlesex Hospital in London in the abdominal surgery department. In 1989 he passed his state examination. In the same year he became an intern at the I. Women's Clinic at the University of Munich under Günther Kindermann . In 1990 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . In 1991 Dimpfl received his license to practice medicine and became a research assistant and assistant doctor at the clinic. In 1992 he worked for three months as a guest fellow at St George's Hospital in London in the department of urogynecology . From 1994 he was head of urogynecology at the Munich clinic. Specialist since 1996 , he was appointed senior physician at the clinic in 1997. In 1998 he became a member of the executive board of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG). In 1998 Dimpfl sat in at the Brigham & Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School . He completed his habilitation in 1999 and was appointed private lecturer . In 2001 he was appointed director of the gynecological clinic at the Kassel Clinic . In 2003 he was re- qualified at the Philipps University of Marburg , which made him professor in 2005.

In 2006 Thomas Dimpfl was elected 1st chairman of the Middle Rhine Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics , as well as 1st chairman of the Urogynaecology and Plastic Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Working Group (AGUB) in the DGGG. He has been President of the DGGG since October 2012.

Thomas Dimpfl is married to Aurelia Probst-Dimpfl and has three children.
