Urogynecology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The urogynaecology is the urological field of gynecology.

Field of work

The technical term urogynecology describes a complex sub-area of gynecology . The basics are the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the female urorectogenital system. The pelvic floor (stressed by pregnancy and birth) is of central importance . The problems are often kept quiet. Many women consider the symptoms to be "normal" or untreatable. In surgical treatment, gynecologists, urologists and visceral surgeons must work together by mutual agreement, even if there are conflicts of jurisdiction in the nature of the matter ("gynecological urology"). Everyday clinical practice is determined by different forms of urinary incontinence and subsidence problems in the rectum , uterus , vagina and urinary bladder . Rectovaginal fistulas , urethrovaginal fistulas, and vesicovaginal fistulas are vast and delicate fields of work. They play a particularly important role in Africa. The Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital is a specialized clinic.
