Wilhelm Latzko

Wilhelm Latzko (born March 3, 1863 in Vienna , † February 11, 1945 in New York City ) was an Austrian gynecologist.

Life

As the son of a meerschaum turner , Wilhelm Latzko attended the Vienna Academic High School . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine at the University of Vienna . He was promoted to Dr. med. did his doctorate and was a student of Eduard Albert , August Breisky and Rudolf Chrobak . For 12 years he headed the gynecological department of the Kaiser Franz Joseph outpatient clinic and anniversary hospital . In 1902 he became a private lecturer and head of department at the Wiedner Hospital . Since 1910 associate professor , he took over the Bettina Pavilion in the Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Spital . In 1927 he gave lectures at the Medical Faculty of the Universidad de Buenos Aires . It was 1932 supplier forming , then appointed director of the Institute Empress Elisabeth hospital. Retired after the annexation of Austria , he emigrated to Buenos Aires (1938/39) and from there to New York in 1939. He saw a high point of his scientific activity in the development of urogynecology . Its name stands for the extraperitoneal caesarean section and its method of treating bladder-vaginal fistulas.
