Günther Kindermann (born December 1, 1935 in Kaiserswerth ) is a German gynecologist and university professor.

Life

Kindermann studied medicine at the Medical Academy in Düsseldorf . In 1960 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He went to the gynecological clinic of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen and qualified as a professor for gynecology in 1972 with Karl-Günther Ober . Later appointed professor , he was appointed to the chair of the Free University of Berlin in 1979 and was appointed director of the University Women's Clinic in Berlin-Charlottenburg. From 1984 to 1987 Kindermann was Vice Dean of the Medical Faculty, Klinikum Charlottenburg, Free University. He headed the clinic until 1987 when he accepted a position at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Here he headed the I. University Women's Clinic at the Inner City Clinic until his retirement in 2002. His successor was Klaus Friese .

Kindermann sat on the board of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) for many years . He was its President from 1998–2000 and organized the 2000 Congress in Munich. From 1995 to 1996 he was Vice President of the Society of Pelvic Surgeons . He is also a member or honorary member of numerous German and international societies. Since May 17, 2001 he has been a member of the Leibniz Society for Science in Berlin . He has been co-editor of the specialist journal obstetrics and gynecology since 1979 and on the advisory board of several German and international journals in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. Since 1955 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau .
