Thomas Endres

Thomas Endres (born September 12, 1969 in Würzburg ) is a former German fencer who became German champion and won an Olympic silver medal with the foil team in 1988.

Thomas Endres completed his Abitur in 1989 at the Matthias Grünewald High School in Tauberbischofsheim .

successes

Thomas Endres from FC Tauberbischofsheim won four German championship titles in 1988 . Both in the junior age group and in the active class, he won the individual evaluation with the foil and with the Tauberbischofsheimer team. There was also the European Cup with the club and second place at the Junior World Championship in the USA. With his successes, he also qualified for the Olympic team. At the Olympic fencing tournament in Seoul , he fought his way to the Olympic final with Matthias Behr , Mathias Gey , Ulrich Schreck and Thorsten Weidner , where the German team lost to the Soviet team. The following year, Thorsten Weidner, Mathias Gey, Thomas Endres and Alexander Koch reached the final again at the 1989 World Fencing Championships in Denver . As in the previous year, the team of the Soviet team was defeated and received the silver medal. For this success he was honored with the silver laurel leaf - like his colleagues from the German foil Olympic team.
