Thomas Herzog (lawyer)

Thomas Herzog (born September 21, 1976 in Schramberg ) is a German lawyer. From 2011 to 2019 he was Lord Mayor of the large district town of Schramberg ( Rottweil district ) in the Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg).

Life

Thomas Herzog studied law at the University of Bayreuth and graduated in 2001 with additional training as a business lawyer. Herzog completed his legal clerkship at the district court of Coburg and worked a. a. at a law firm in Paris.

He is married and has four children.

After incumbent Herbert Zinell (SPD) resigned as Lord Mayor in 2011 after his appointment as Ministerial Director in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior, Thomas Herzog was elected mayor on July 31, 2011 with 67.5%, ahead of management consultant Michael Melvin (31.1%) elected as his successor. The turnout was 51.5%. On October 1, 2011, Herzog took office.

In the Mayor election on July 7, 2019, Herzog lost 29.5% of the vote to Dorothee Eisenlohr , who was also non-party and was elected with 67.5% of the votes in the first ballot. His term of office ended with the appointment of the new mayor on October 4, 2019.
