Thomas Hoeps

Thomas Hoeps (born December 30, 1966 in Krefeld ) is a German writer and editor who mainly publishes detective novels .

life and work

Thomas Hoeps, born in Krefeld in 1966, studied German language and literature and information science from 1986 to 1992 at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf with a master's degree. Subsequently from 1993 to 2001 at the TU Dresden, where he did his doctorate with a dissertation on "Terrorism in German Novels and Stories".

Between 1986 and 1994 he worked as a freelance cultural journalist for the Westdeutsche Zeitung and Neues Rheinland, among others . From 1988 to 1992 he was editor of the monthly magazine "Krefelder Stadtkultur". He then taught between 1994 and 1996 as a lecturer in journalistic writing at Heinrich Heine University and at TU Dresden. Since 1997, Hoeps has designed and organized numerous literature projects as a freelance literature organizer for municipal and state-wide institutions such as the NRW Literature Office in Düsseldorf, the Rhineland Regional Council and several cities on the Lower Rhine. From 2002 to 2004 he held the position of managing director for culture in the Niederrhein cultural area. From 2004 to 2019 he was head of the municipal culture office in Mönchengladbach.

Since 1990 he has published numerous literary works and audio CDs. From 1991 to 1997 he headed the experimental literature / music group "Institute for Artificial High Frequency Simulation (infahs)". Since 2006 he has also been writing in a team with the Dutch crime writer Jac. Toes is one of the few author duos who cross language boundaries together for detective novels that appear in both Germany and the Netherlands.

Over the past 20 years, Hoeps has received several awards, including the prestigious award for literature from the state capital Düsseldorf in 1995.

Thomas Hoeps lives and works in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach.
