action

At 10:30 p.m. Alex North gets a visit from the restaurant owner Walter and his people Mike and Gordon, with whom he is actually friends. Walter wants Alex to pay 15,000 euros, which he owed him for six months. Cuffed to a chair, he is injected with an Indian poison that leads to death after 80 minutes. If he can find the money within this time, he will receive the antidote.

Completely distraught and offended, Alex runs to his car and drives to his brother, who is a doctor at the local hospital. On the way there he causes an accident with a jaguar which is then ready for scrap. Since his car is unable to drive, he flees on foot, followed by the Jaguar driver. In the hospital, he asks his brother Vincent for help, who after an initial refusal, writes him a check. He calls his friends Floyd and Lloyd to pick him up and drive him back to his apartment. At a traffic light, however, they are unexpectedly shot at by a motorcycle gang and their leader Black. It turns out that Lloyd has bet 7,000 euros from Black and he now wants his money back. As they flee, they crash their cars into a river. Angry, Alex sets off on foot alone. But he happens to meet the Jaguar driver who is chasing him with his Jaguar, which is almost unfit to drive. The Jaguar driver is arrested after ramming a police car. Alex meets his friends Floyd and Lloyd again.

The three are picked up by Black. He's pointing the gun at Lloyd. Lloyd reveals that Alex has a check for EUR 15,000 with him. He is then shot and Alex and Floyd are able to flee. Mona, Alex's girlfriend and on her way to Alex's car, discovers him and takes him with her. He tells her everything that she leaves him with her car so that he can make it to Walter in time.

In front of his apartment, Floyd snatches the check from him and blames him for Lloyd's death. All he had to do was give Black the check. Suddenly Black appears and attacks Floyd. Alex shoots Black with his gun and runs into his apartment. There he only finds Mike who was shot and tried to take the antidote from Walter.

Alex is on his way to Walter's restaurant. He has five minutes to live. He arrives there two minutes before the deadline, but Walter doesn't want to give him the antidote. Desperate, Alex points the gun at Walter and pulls the trigger several times. In his dazed state, he realizes that Walter is not injured. He goes to the stage, the curtain falls and Walter and all of Alex's friends, including Lloyd and Black, wish a "Happy Birthday". Walter laughingly explains that it was just a stimulant and that his debts have been paid by his friends. Everything was planned and thought of as an unforgettable birthday present. The Jaguar driver and the police contact were not part of the plan.

criticism

“Action thriller based on US models; little independent entertainment on a common television level. "

“Anyone who has wondered what happened to Thomas Jahn, the promising director of" Knockin 'on Heaven's Door ", only has to take a look at this production by Zeitsprung, the Cologne company behind TV goods such as" Contergan ": A Routinely wacky, but not very charming thriller in the TV look, but pimped up with international names like Gabriel Mann. Based on the basic idea of "Crank", but without its intrinsic qualities, you will be entertained reasonably well, but not particularly original. "
