from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Hofner is a former German soccer player who was active for FC Bayern Munich from 1941 to 1948 and won two titles.

Career

Hofner played in the 1941/42 season as a midfielder on April 26, 1942 (21st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the home game against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in the Gauliga Bayern , one of 16 initially, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Reich , his first competitive game for Bavaria . He also came on May 17, 1942 in the 3: 5 defeat against LSV Fürstenfeldbruck in the competition for the Tschammerpokal in the run-up to the final round and in three friendly games in which he scored a goal, to further missions.

In the two following seasons - in which the Gauliga Bayern was divided into two groups due to the war-related circumstances - he played a total of 28 point games in the Gauliga Südbayern , as well as seven cup and 16 friendly games. After 18 match days - last season - and four points ahead of KSG BC / Post Augsburg , he won the South Bavarian championship with Bayern , which was already determined after the 15th match day - purely mathematically. For FC Bayern Munich it was the first championship title in the Gauliga , which was officially known as the sports class from 1939. In addition, on August 22, 1943, he played the first final round in the Tschammerpokal, which was lost 3-0 at BC Augsburg .

In the twelfth and final season of the Gauliga Bayern this was again divided into five sports area classes, but a champion could only be determined in the sports area class Munich / Upper Bavaria . Hofner played seven of the 15 out of 18 scheduled games and won this time - purely arithmetically - the Upper Bavarian Championship after winning 3-1 at SpVgg Sendling on March 25, 1945 and gaining the necessary lead over TSV 1860 Munich .

In the newly created Oberliga Süd , the first league in Germany, he completed eight games in the 1946/47 season and two point games in the 1947/48 season. He made his debut on December 8, 1946 (11th matchday) in a 3-1 win in the away game against Karlsruher FV ; He played his last league game on September 14, 1947 (2nd matchday) in a 2-0 win in the away game against SpVgg Fürth .
