Thomas Kirchner (screenwriter)
Thomas Kirchner (* 1961 in Berlin ) is a German screenwriter .
Life
Thomas Kirchner completed a commercial apprenticeship in Berlin. From 1981 he worked as a stage technician and lacing master at the Maxim Gorki Theater . In 1989 he became an assistant director and worked with Martin Meltke , Thomas Langhoff and Rolf Winkelgrund , among others . At the same time he worked as an actor, director and author in the independent scene. He has been a freelance screenwriter since 1995 and has written scripts for films such as The Secret in the Moor , The Miracle of Berlin and Reunion with a Stranger .
In 2012 Kirchner wrote the screenplay for the literary film adaptation of The Tower . He condensed the 1000-page novel Der Turm by Uwe Tellkamp into two 90-minute television films. Tellkamp praised him for this, as he not only understood his novel, but also improved its weaknesses. So the private drama about the character of Anna was worked out more intensively. Tellkamp also stated that he would work out Anna's story better in the continuation of his novel.
Kirchner is the scriptwriter of all episodes of the Spreewald crime thriller that have been created together with editor Pit Rampelt ( ZDF ) and producer Wolfgang Esser ( aspect of telefilm production ) since 2006.
Thomas Kirchner is married and lives in Berlin.
