Thomas Knoke

Thomas Knoke (* 1965 ) is a German forest scientist and associate professor for forest inventory and sustainable use at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

After completing his military service and studying forest sciences at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), he completed his legal traineeship at the Bavarian State Forest Administration and graduated with the state examination. His doctorate at LMU in 1998 was followed by his habilitation and appointment as a private lecturer at TU Munich in 2003, due to the change in the forest sciences faculty from LMU to TU Munich.

In 2005 Knoke was appointed professor for forest inventory and sustainable use at the Technical University of Munich. In 2013, he turned down a professorship for forest economics and forest planning at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .

In addition to various expert activities, Knoke has been the operations manager of the LMU University Forest near Landshut since 2014 .

  • Karl Abetz Prize for Young Scientists, awarded by the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (1999)
  • Nomination for the German Forest Science Award (2004)
  • Thurn and Taxis Advancement Award for Forest Science from the Technical University of Munich (2004)
