Thomas Münten

Thomas Münten (* 1963 ) is a German television journalist .

Life

Thomas Münten completed his traineeship at the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung , and subsequently switched to the local radio station Radio KW in 1990. In 1991 he became editor-in-chief of Radio EN . In 1994 Münten switched to WDR television in Düsseldorf , moderated the Bergisch Land local time from 2000 to 2004 and worked for the current hour until 2009 .

In March 2009 he switched to ZDF again , where he works for the North Rhine-Westphalia state studio in Düsseldorf. In 2010 Thomas Münten was a ZDF reporter at the Love Parade in Duisburg , where he currently reported on the disaster . Together with his colleague Ute Waffenschmidt , he processed the events of that time in the 90-minute ZDF documentary On a Day in Duisburg from July 2011.

Other activities occasionally take place at the television magazine Frontal21 in Berlin. In 2015 a. a. with his colleague Andreas Halbach and together with a private detective on a commercial illegal scrap trade out of the EU. In May 2016 he and his colleagues Andreas Halbach and Heiko Rahms reported about a data leak at Cologne / Bonn Airport . Here the confidential emergency plan with the names and telephone numbers of those responsible as well as detailed sketches and airport plans could be downloaded worldwide. In August 2017, Münten, together with Heiko Rahms, Ulrich Stoll and the CORRECTIV research network , revealed that the AFD party chairman , Jörg Meuthen , had accepted substantial party donations from Switzerland during the state election campaign in Baden-Württemberg , without disclosing them to the organization lobbycontrol and the federal press conference had lied.

Münten is a visiting lecturer for investigative journalism at the University of Passau .

Since 2018, Münten has also hosted the Saturday show every two weeks on the local broadcaster “Radio Vest” in Recklinghausen from 9 am to 12 noon.
