Thomas Neuwirth (politician)

Thomas Neuwirth (born September 1, 1905 in Hollabrunn ; † November 14, 1988 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( VdU ) and union secretary. From 1949 to 1953 he was a member of the National Council .

After primary school, Neuwirth attended a secondary school and then graduated from the commercial academy. As a result, from 1928 he studied law at the University of Vienna as a part-time and graduated in 1932 with the last state examination, but without an academic degree, which is occasionally absent. iur. reflects in the name.

Neuwirth began his professional career between 1924 and 1931 as an export specialist in the overseas department of a company and between 1932 and 1934 he was secretary in the German National Sales Aid Association (DHV). He then worked between 1934 and 1937 as a secretary in the trade union federation of Austrian workers and employees, and between 1937 and 1942 he was the authorized signatory of the wholesale company Thomas Neuwirth. From 1947 he was state secretary of the union of employees in the private sector in Salzburg. Neuwirth was sworn in as a member of the National Council on November 8, 1949, and was a member of the Association of Independents until December 12, 1952. After that he was until March 18, 1953 a member of the National Council without a club membership. Internally, he was active as chairman of the central committee for trade union and social policy in the VdU.
