Thomas Nicklas

Thomas Nicklas (* 1967 in Altdorf near Nuremberg ) is a German modern historian .

Life

Nicklas studied history, Romance studies, art history and philosophy at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau, Würzburg and Erlangen. He was supported in 1994 by a doctoral scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung at the Philosophical Faculty I of the University of Erlangen with the dissertation On Power and Unity of the Reich. Conception and reality of politics with Lazarus von Schwendi (1522–1583) as Dr. phil. PhD. In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the Chair of Modern History I (Professorship Helmut Neuhaus ) with the thesis Power or Law. Early modern politics in the Upper Saxon Empire and became a private lecturer . Since 2008 he has been a research professor at the German Department of Reims University . His main research interests include a. Political and institutional history, the history of Franco-German relations and cultural exchange relations .
