Thomas Nitz

Thomas Nitz (born August 21, 1960 in Stralsund ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Nitz attended the polytechnic high school. He then did an apprenticeship as an able seaman at the Deutsche Seereederei and an apprenticeship as an engineer at the seafaring school. After a professional ban was imposed on him, he worked for the White Fleet . In 1986 he went to the Volkswerft Stralsund and, in addition to his engineering work, trained in the fields of environmental protection and landscape management. In 1991 he moved to the Stralsund Social Welfare Office, where he was responsible for setting up and running employment projects for social welfare recipients.

In 1989 Nitz was registered with the New Forum , where he actively helped shape the transition. From 1990 to 1993 he was a member of the DSU , where he was district spokesman and member of the state executive committee. In 1994 Nitz finally joined the CDU. From 1991 to 1994 he was head of the committee for environment and order of the citizenship of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund, employee in the youth welfare committee and in the CDU citizenship faction as an appointed citizen. From 1994 to 2002 he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament .
