Thomas Nkuissi

Thomas Nkuissi (born July 7, 1928 in Nkongsamba ; † March 16, 2011 ) was a Cameroonian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

Thomas Nkuissi was ordained a priest on June 29, 1958 in Nkongsamba. In 1961, after completing a doctorate, Nkuissi became a Dr. can. iur. PhD .

In place of the bishop of Nkongsamba, Albert Ndongmo , who was sentenced to death in 1970 for "subversive" activities and pardoned in 1971 , Pope Paul VI appointed. 1973 Thomas Nkuissi titular Bishop of Luperciana and appointed him to succeed the then administrator Georges Siyam as Apostolic Administrator in the Diocese of Nkongsamba . He was ordained bishop on April 15, 1973 by Cardinal Agnelo Rossi , Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples ; Co- consecrators were Curia Archbishop Bernardin Gantin , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Denis Ngande , Bishop of Bafoussam .

On November 15, 1978, the appointment as the third bishop of Nkongsamba by Pope John Paul II took place. On November 21, 1992, his resignation was granted and André Wouking was installed as administrator. The reasons for his resignation remained open, but allegedly because of disputes over the funeral of Albert Ndongmo, who died in exile in Canada.
