The Diocese of Nkongsamba ( lat. : Dioecesis Nkongsambensis ) is in Cameroon situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Nkongsamba .
history
Pope Pius X. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Adamaua on April 28, 1914 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Khartoum . On June 11, 1923, it took the name, Foumban Apostolic Prefecture . With the Bull Quo apostolicae she was raised to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate on May 28, 1934 .
With the Apostolic Constitution Dum tantis she was raised on September 14, 1955 to the rank of diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Yaoundé as a suffragan . On March 18, 1982 it became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Douala .
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- May 28, 1940 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Berbérati ;
- April 28, 1942 to Niamey Apostolic Prefecture ;
- January 9, 1947 to Garoua Apostolic Prefecture ;
- January 9, 1947 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Fort-Lamy ;
- February 5, 1970 to the Diocese of Bafoussam ;
- May 26, 2012 to the Diocese of Bafang .
