The diocese Berbérati ( Latin Dioecesis Berberatensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Berbérati in the Central African Republic . It includes the prefectures of Mambéré-Kadéï and Sangha-Mbaéré .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Berbérati on May 28, 1940 from cessions of the Apostolic Vicariate Foumban and Oubangui-Chari .

On January 9, 1947, it lost part of its territory to the Apostolic Prefecture of Fort Lamy . With the Apostolic Constitution Cum ob sollertem she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on March 13, 1952.

The elevation to the diocese took place on September 14, 1955 with the Apostolic Constitution Dum tantis . On February 9, 1959, it lost part of its territory to the Apostolic Prefecture of Bangassou and on February 27, 1978 to the Diocese of Bouar .
