The prefecture is located in the west of the country and borders in the north with the prefecture Nana-Mambéré , in the south with the prefecture Sangha-Mbaéré in the west with Cameroon , in the north-east with the prefecture Ombella-Mpoko and in the south-east with the prefecture Lobaye .
