Bamingui-Bangoran is a prefecture of the Central African Republic with the capital Ndélé . In the 2003 census, 43,229 residents were reported.

The prefecture is located in the north of the country and borders Chad to the north, Ouaka prefecture to the south, Nana-Grébizi prefecture to the west, Vakaga prefecture to the north-east and Haute-Kotto prefecture to the south-east . The boundaries of the prefecture are mainly based on the rivers Bahr Aouk in the north, the Bamingui and Koukorou in the west and the Vakaga in the east. In the south the mountain ranges of the north equatorial threshold and in the southeast the Bongo massif represent the prefectural border. All rivers belong to the catchment area of ​​the Shari river system in the Chad basin .

The Manovo-Gounda Saint Floris National Park Complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies in the east of the prefecture and the Bamingui-Bangoran National Park in the west .

The flora and fauna is very rich and is determined in the north by the vegetation type of the Eastern Sudan Savannah and in the south by the Northern Congo Forest Savannah .
