Coincya richeri sometimes called, Richer beak mustard is a plant from the genus of coat mustards ( Coincya ) in the family of Brassicaceae (Brassicaceae). It is endemic to the Western Alps .

Vegetative characteristics

Coincya richeri is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. The above-ground parts of the plant are bare. The upright stem is leafy.

The foliage leaves , arranged in basal rosettes and alternating on the stem , are divided into a long petiole and a leaf blade. The leaf blade is oblong-ovate with smooth to irregular and not very deeply serrated leaf margin.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from June to August. The inflorescence is initially schirmtraubig later by an extension of the inflorescence axis traubig . The stalked flower is hermaphroditic with a double flower envelope . The four upright sepals are up to 10 millimeters long. The four yellow petals are 12 to 20 millimeters long with a long nail.

The pods , which protrude horizontally on 8 to 15 millimeter long stems, are 50 to 80 millimeters long, glabrous, with clearly three-veined fruit valves and up to 20 millimeters long, double-edged beak.

Occurrence

Coincya richeri is in the western Alps from Monte Viso to Mont Cenis endemic . In the subalpine to alpine altitudes , Coincya richeri thrives at altitudes of 1600 to 2400 meters. on lime-poor soils , rubble , in rock crevices and on pastures .

Systematics

It was first published in 1779 by Dominique Villars under the name Brassica richeri Vill. in Prospectus de l'Histoire des Plantes de Dauphiné , page 40. Werner Greuter and Hervé Maurice Burdet put this species in Med-Checklist Notulae, 7 in Willdenowia , Volume 13, 1983, p. 88 under the name Coincya richeri in the genus Coincya . Other synonyms for Coincya richeri (Vill.) Greuter & Burdet are: Brassicella richeri (Vill.) OESchulz , Erucastrum richeri (Vill.) Link , Hutera richeri (Lange) Gomez-Campo , Rhynchosinapis richeri (Lange) Heyw.
