Thomas Oakes (born February 6, 1922 in Manchester , † November 1993 ibid) was an English football player .

Career

Oakes was registered in the 1946/47 season as an amateur with the first division club Manchester United , before he came in April 1947 to a league lower playing city rivals Manchester City . At City, Oakes, who was presented in the press on his debut as a "local discovery", came in a 3-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion on the penultimate match day of the season for his only appearance. In the sportingly insignificant game - Manchester City was already established as champions and promoted players - he formed the wing tongs with Murdoch McCormack , a test player from the Glasgow Rangers . In May 1948 he left the club again and played until his retirement in 1954 for Goslings FC , an amateur club from Manchester.
