Thomas Richter (born August 19, 1980 in Görlitz ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Richter began playing the soccer game in 1988 at MBB SG Augsburg , and two years later he moved to the youth department of TSV Schwaben Augsburg . In 1995 he switched to city rivals FC Augsburg . With the club's A youth team, he won the South German A youth championship in 1998. In the same year he also worked for the German U18 national team . From 2000 to 2003 Richter played in the second team of Borussia Mönchengladbach and then moved to the regional division SV Elversberg . Richter was regular goalkeeper at Elversberg for two years, but left the club in 2005 because he saw no prospect of further development .

In the 2005/06 season he played for league rivals SV Darmstadt 98 . At the beginning of the season, the club announced promotion to the second division as a goal, but the team under coach Bruno Labbadia clearly missed this with 5th place in the final table. Richter then moved to the second division Sportfreunde Siegen and played with the club in the 2006/07 season in the Regionalliga Süd. As with Darmstadt, Richter was a regular goalkeeper and only finished 12th with the club in the final ranking. Siegen signed another goalkeeper in Robert Wulnikowski for the new season , which led to Richter accepting an offer from SV Wehen Wiesbaden , who had been promoted to the second division and committed him for 25,000 euros. During labor he was initially only substitute goalkeeper behind Adnan Masić . On the 6th match day of the 2007/08 season Richter came to his first professional appearance after Masić was removed from the squad by coach Christian Hock due to poor performance. In August 2009 he moved to the South African first division club Mpumalanga Black Aces . After only one year he moved back to Germany to the regional division FC 08 Homburg . After the Saarlanders were relegated to the league, Richter ended his career in the summer of 2011.

In July 2012 Richter moved to the board of FC 08 Homburg as the new managing director.
