Thomas Ruch (born February 23, 1963 in Basel ) is a Swiss painter and draftsman .

Life

Thomas Ruch graduated from the humanistic grammar school in Basel. Then he learned the profession of watchmaker . In 1988 he set up a studio in the canton of Solothurn that still exists today . From 1995 to 2002 he studied 'Free Art' at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , with Magdalena Jetelová , Konrad Klapheck and Franz Eggenschwiler , among others . In 2001 he became a master student at the academy. Since 2002 he has also had a studio in Düsseldorf. Ruch lives and works in Basel and Düsseldorf .

Thomas Ruch works in the field of graphics and drawing , including etching lines . He puts these graphic techniques in a context with contemporary material such as paint from the spray can ( graffiti ) and painting.

Thomas Ruch has participated several times in the International Triennale of the Xylon and the International Triennale for Original Graphics in Grenchen , as well as in the annual cantonal exhibitions of Solothurn artists in Switzerland. He is a member of Visarte (Switzerland) and the international wood cutting association Xylon.
