Thomas Sabo GmbH & Co. KG is a jewelry company founded in 1984 by Thomas Sabo from Lauf an der Pegnitz .

The company is one of the leading jewelry brands. It offers jewelry, watches and beauty products through a global network of its own stores, franchisees, an online shop and trading partners, as well as airline sales on board. It is known for its Sterling Silver and Charm Club collections.

history

The company founder Thomas Sabo (* 1961 in Nuremberg ) completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at Diehl . Thomas Sabo began importing jewelry from Asia in the early 1980s, which he offered for sale at trade fairs in Germany.

Sabo founded the company of the same name in Lauf an der Pegnitz in 1984. At the beginning of the 1990s, Thomas Sabo met the graphic designer and decorator Susanne Kölbli from Heidelberg at the CPD fashion fair in Düsseldorf . The collaboration that resulted from the encounter soon no longer only related to the presentation of the goods, but led to the joint development of the jewelry collections.

The first Thomas Sabo store opened in Frankfurt in 1998. Since then, the number of Thomas Sabo Shops has increased steadily, including sales outlets in international metropolises such as Berlin, Nuremberg, Stockholm, Paris, London, Las Vegas, Toronto, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Today Thomas Sabo is a legally protected brand worldwide, and the designs are also internationally protected. The trade in counterfeits and imitations is prevented within the framework of the respective legal regulations.

Operational structure

The company employs around 380 people at its main location in Lauf ad Pegnitz. The head office is home to management, administration, marketing, sales for the specialist and retail trade as well as a workshop and customer service. Internationally, the company has over 1,800 employees.

Collections

Thomas Sabo brings a new jewelry and watch collection onto the market twice a year, in January and July. The focus of the “Glam & Soul” women's jewelry collection is on jewelry made of 925 sterling silver, some with 750 rose gold plating (18 carat) or 750 yellow gold plating (18 carat). Types of jewelry include pendants, beads, bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, chains, ribbons, jewelry straps, and cufflinks.

In addition to the women's collection, the “Rebel at heart” jewelry collection has also been in existence since 2007, comprising numerous masculine designs made of blackened 925 Sterling silver. In spring 2013 "Rebel at heart" was presented for the first time as an independent men's collection.

In January 2014, the Sterling Silver collection was expanded to include the jewelry line “Karma Beads”, which includes a large number of handcrafted jewelry balls, some of which are decorated with semi-precious stones. The beads are made of 925 sterling silver and a variety of other materials such as lapis lazuli , obsidian , aventurine , rose quartz , chalcedony , tiger's eye , jade , jasper , agate , bamboo coral, howlite or cultured freshwater pearl . The beads are also available with 750 rose gold and yellow gold plating. The Karma Beads can be combined with many pieces of jewelry from the Sterling Silver collection.

The Charm Club collection was introduced for the first time in 2006 and now includes over 500 different pendants, charm carriers, bracelets, necklaces and watches. The Charm Club collection is launched every six months in February and September and appeals to a younger target group. The word charm stands for 'lucky charm'.

Wrist watches

In 2009 the company started a wristwatch collection . There are currently three collections inspired by the jewelry collections: Glam & Soul, Rebel at heart, and Charm Club. The watches sold by Thomas Sabo are exclusively electromechanical quartz watches.

Beauty

From 2010 Thomas Sabo is expanding its product portfolio to include cosmetics and perfumes . There will be four different fragrances until the end of 2012: Charm Rose, Charm Kiss, Rebel at heart and Glam 'N Soul. The Charm Rose line was expanded in 2013 to include the Eau de Parfum Charm Rose Intense, and for the summer of 2014 the summer fragrance Charm Rose Summer will be introduced for a short time. The Eau de Karma followed in 2015, based on the Karma-Beads line.

Business activity

As one of the leading suppliers in the jewelry, watch and beauty segment, the company is present on all five continents with around 137 stand-alone shops (boutiques) and 107 shop-in-shops . THOMAS SABO also cooperates with around 3,000 jewelers and international airlines worldwide . Thomas Sabo also offers its articles via its own online shop on the Internet, which is accessible from 27 countries worldwide.

Awards

In 2011 Thomas Sabo received a silver award at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards for the THOMAS SABO Watches image film in the category “Corporate Films and Videos: Trade Fairs, Shows and Events”. In 2012, Thomas Sabo GmbH & Co. KG was named “Company of the Year” by the Central Franconian district of the Bavarian Trade Association (HBE).
