Career

The striker Thomas Sagel began his career at TuS Erkeln and came to SpVg Brakel via TuS Bad Driburg . In 1985 he moved to the upper division TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus , before joining the second division Arminia Bielefeld a year later . Sagel made his second division debut on July 26, 1986 in a 0-0 draw at Arminia at Fortuna Cologne , and his first goal followed on September 13, 1986 in a 1-1 draw at SV Darmstadt 98 . Sagel scored another goal in the curious game against 1. FC Saarbrücken , in which Arminia only started ten times due to many injuries and the regulations at the time and finished ninth after another injury. After 21 second division games and four goals for Bielefeld, Sagel returned to Brakel in 1987 and five years later rose with the team in the Oberliga Westfalen.
