Thomas Schröer (politician)

Thomas Schröer (born October 15, 1946 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; † April 10, 2007 ) was a German teacher and politician of the SPD .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1966, the son of a sales manager studied German, history and philosophy at the universities of Münster , Bochum and Bonn . In 1975 he passed the first and in 1976 the second state examination for teaching at secondary schools. He then entered the school service as a teacher and worked as a high school teacher. Later he was a member of the supervisory board of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Wasserwerkgesellschaft in Mülheim an der Ruhr .

Schröer joined the SPD in 1968 and was elected chairman of the Jusos in the SPD district of Lower Rhine in 1972. Since 1973 he was a board member of the SPD sub-district Mülheim-Ruhr and since 1976 a board member of the SPD district Niederrhein, of which he was deputy chairman from 1984. From 1999 to 2001 he was chairman of the SPD Mülheim.

Schröer was from 1975 to 1980 and again from 1990 council member of the city of Mülheim. From 1980 to 1990 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He was always directly elected in the Mülheim constituency. From 1980 to 1983 he was a member of the Committee on Education and Science and in the following legislative terms a member of the Interior Committee .
