Thomas Schweizer (soccer player)

Thomas Schweizer (born September 13, 1967 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a former German soccer player.

Personal

Schweizer is married and has two daughters who also play soccer. He has completed two professional training courses as a precision mechanic and an insurance salesman. His main job is as a freelance insurance salesman.

Soccer

Schweizer began his career in 1974 at SV Kirchzarten . In 1986 he moved to the then second division club SC Freiburg . There he came to 136 second division appearances by 1991 and scored 30 goals. In the 1991/92 season, Schweizer played for FC Basel . After a year break, he returned to SC Freiburg in 1993, from where he was loaned to Chemnitzer FC during the season and made another 17 appearances in the second division (2 goals).

In 1990, Schweizer acquired the Trainer B license, and from 1994 he worked as a player-trainer in various clubs (see below). In the 1998/1999 season he was a player at Bahlinger SC in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.

At the end of October 2007, he took over from Dietmar Sehrig as head coach of the Bundesliga women at SC Freiburg on an interim basis . When he took office it was already clear that he would be replaced by Alexander Fischinger on January 1, 2008 , as he did not have the A license required for the women's Bundesliga. For the rest of the season, Schweizer Fischinger was an assistant coach. In the summer of 2008 he ended his engagement with the SC women.

In 1999, Schweizer founded the Alitom football school together with Fischinger and Alfons Higl, which offers football training for children and young people on a commercial basis.

From 2009 to 2015, Schweizer ran a downtown bar in Freiburg , the “Cologne Embassy”. From 2016 he works for a beverage supplier near Freiburg.

In the 2017/18 season he was the Swiss coach of the district league A team of FC Wolfenweiler-Schallstadt.
