Thomas Stotko (born June 3, 1966 in Witten ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

education and profession

Stotko graduated from the Albert-Martmöller-Gymnasium in Witten in 1986 . From 1987 to 1995 he studied at the University of Bochum law . After passing his first state examination in law in 1995 and his second state examination in 1998, Stotko has been a lawyer since 1998 and self-employed since 2004 .

Stotko has been married since 2002 and has one child.

politics

Stotko has been a member of the SPD since 1984. As such, he has been a member of the executive committee of the local SPD association in Witten-Stockum since 1984. From 2000 to 2014 he was chairman of the Witten municipal association of the SPD. Stotko is a member of the ver.di union .

In June 2005, Stotko was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament for the first time with 45.6% of the votes for the constituency Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis II , to which he has been a member since then. In 2010, Stotko was re-elected as a direct candidate with 43.8%. In the early state elections in 2012, he was able to increase his result to 46.2%.

In November 2007 it became known that Stotko drove twice without a license during a driving ban due to multiple traffic offenses in 2006. The state parliament then lifted the MP's immunity and charges were brought before the Wuppertal district court . The court sentenced Stotko to a fine of 5,500 euros for driving twice without a license.

For the SPD parliamentary group, Stotko was the domestic policy spokesman, also a member of the legal committee and the committee for women, equality and emancipation of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He is no longer a member of the state parliament elected in 2017.
