Thomas Thiel

Thomas Thiel (* 1975 in Rotenburg , Fulda ) is a German journalist .

Life

Thiel grew up in Bamberg. After attending the humanistic grammar school there in Bamberg, he studied German and history in Heidelberg. From 2001 he completed a year-long study of geopolitics, macroeconomics and European studies at the Institut d'études politiques in Paris. In 2002 he began his doctoral thesis at the Institute for Cultural Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin on the “conflict between the immediacy of perception and the theory of science”. However, the work is not finished yet.

In 1998 he began to write for the Heidelberg student newspaper ruprecht , then did internships at Der Spiegel and the taz . He then worked for the Tagesspiegel and the Süddeutsche Zeitung . In 2005 he came to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , where he became a volunteer in 2006. He has been an editor in the features section there since 2008 (editorial abbreviation “tth”). Here he oversees the research and teaching department .

Awards

In 2008 he received the Wächterpreis for volunteers and an award at the Axel Springer Prize 2008.
