Night over Springfield ( English title: Scuse Me While I Miss The Sky ) is the sixteenth episode of the fourteenth season of the series The Simpsons . She won the Annie Award in 2003 .
action
After a film producer wants to make a film about the elementary school in Springfield, he takes up a conversation with the student Lisa Simpson and tells her to choose a steady career. After a period of deliberation, she decides to become a star gazer . But despite a telescope that her father bought her, she cannot see anything in the sky at night because the lights of the city mask the light of the stars.
Lisa draws up a successful petition to reduce this light pollution . As a result, there is no longer any light in the city at night and vandalism is increasing. Due to the pressure of many city dwellers, the blackout will be reversed. However, it is now so bright that people can no longer sleep. Lisa goes to the nuclear power plant with her brother Bart and both of their tired father Homer , where they cause an overload that causes all the lights in the city to explode. The townspeople are initially angry about the renewed darkness, but are then fascinated by the now visible falling stars .
Meanwhile, Bart wants to increase his popularity at the school by stealing a hood ornament like the hooligans and hanging it on a chain around his neck. Switching off the lights is supposed to help Bart, but the only car that still has a figure is that of the mob boss. Bart does not manage to saw off the car jewelry because he is caught in the act by the mafiosi when the lights are switched on again. In the final renewed darkness, however, Bart manages to steal the hood ornament.
