Thomas Tschäge

Thomas Tschäge (born November 3, 1969 in Hoyerswerda ; † February 8, 2018 ) was a German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Tschäge launched for the SC Cottbus after the sports club Hoyerswerda with cycling began. In 1990 he moved to the cycling club 90 in Frankfurt (Oder) . Thomas Tschäge was a two-time GDR champion in 1982 and won gold at the IX. Children's and youth spartakiade of age group 13 in Leipzig . In 1985 he was again GDR youth champion in the sprint and 500-meter time trial , this time in age group 15.

His most important success was winning the silver medal in the sprint at the UCI-Bahn World Championships for Juniors in 1987. A year later, he started in the men's class and competed in races in the GDR national rail team. He was able to get third at the Grand Prix of Poland and Budapest .
