Thomas Walde (journalist, 1941)

Thomas Walde (born January 23, 1941 in Hirschberg , Silesia ) is a German journalist and program director.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1961, Walde completed an editorial traineeship in Uelzen. From 1964 to 1970 he studied political science in Hamburg.

At Stern he was head of the contemporary history department and was a key person in obtaining the Hitler diaries . Initially without informing the chief editor, he arranged the purchase of the diaries with Gerd Heidemann and the publishing house management. In the satirical film Schtonk! by Helmut Dietl of the department head was contemporary history Pit Kummer 1992 by Harald Juhnke played.

In 1986 he joined the private broadcaster Radio Hamburg , which was then being set up , and was its program director from 1996. He retired on January 31, 2001.

Walde is married and has three children. He is a lieutenant colonel in the reserve.
