Thomas Weissenböck (born March 4, 1972 in Grieskirchen ) is a former Austrian football player and now coach .

Career

As a player

As an active player, Weissenböck played for SV Grieskirchen , for which he had played at least 74 games in the Upper Austrian League by the end of his career in 2004 .

As a trainer

In 2004 Weissenböck became assistant coach of the second division club SV Ried , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2005 . At Ried, he also acted as a trainer and sports director at AKA OÖ West , the Rieder Academy.

After Helmut Kraft left , Weissenböck became head coach of Rieder in October 2007. In April 2008 he was given leave of absence, at that time Ried was in seventh place in the table. For the 2008/09 season, however, he was again a coach at the academy.

In 2010 he became Helmut Kraft's assistant trainer at LASK . During the winter break of the 2010/11 season, he took over the third-class amateurs of LASK. For the 2011/12 season he was coach of the second division club FC Blau-Weiß Linz . In September 2012 the Linzers separated from Weissenböck; the club was on the relegation place at that time.

In December 2012 he took over the coaching position at the fourth-class SV Grieskirchen , where he had already played as a player. In October 2013, Grieskirchen separated from Weissenböck.

In April 2014 he returned to SV Ried, where he became the amateurs coach. For the 2016/17 season he was also assistant coach for the professionals. With SV Ried, however, he had to relegate from the Bundesliga at the end of the season. For the 2017/18 season he took over the post of junior manager at Riedern.

In April 2018 he became head coach of SV Ried for a second time. In November 2018, he resigned as a coach and returned to his previous position.
