Thomas Winkler (* 1958 ) is a politician from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and has been mayor of the southern Hessian twin town of Mörfelden-Walldorf since July 20, 2019 .

Life

Winkler has been based in Walldorf since 1961 . From 1986 to 1992 he ran the Löwen-Lichtspiele, and since then he has been running the Lichtblick- Kino in Walldorf as a self-employed person together with his wife, sister and a partner . He is a member of the supervisory board of a company that produces rainwater filters for the production of industrial water .

Winkler has been active in local politics for the Greens since the 1980s. Since 1990 he has been part of the city council of Mörfelden-Walldorf as a city ​​councilor . His work focuses on finance, building and urban planning, transport policy and social issues.

In December 2018, Winkler was nominated by Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen as a candidate for the mayoral election in Mörfelden-Walldorf in spring 2019. In the mayoral election on March 24, 2019, Winkler was just ahead of Becker (31.27%), Karsten Groß ( CDU , 27.40%) and Alfred Arndt (DKP / Linke Liste, 7.48%) with 33.86% of the vote. ).
