Thomas Witt

Thomas Witt (born September 2, 1966 in Herne ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and cathedral chapter in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

Life

After graduating from high school in Herne he studied Catholic theology in Paderborn and Rome, and received in 1993 by Archbishop Johannes Joachim Degenhardt the priesthood . He was vicar and city chaplain in Brilon (1993–1997). In 1997 he was appointed Subregens at the Archbishop's Seminary in Paderborn, and one year later he became the last chaplain and secret secretary of Archbishop Johannes Joachim Cardinal Degenhardt.

In 2001 he received his doctorate in theology and received the Friedrich Spee Prize from the Paderborn Theological Faculty , which is awarded every year for outstanding dissertations and diploma theses. In 2002 he became pastor in Delbrück , in 2003 head of the pastoral network in Delbrück and Sudhagen and since 2012 head of the new pastoral network in Delbrück. From 2006 to 2013 he was dean for the Büren-Delbrück dean's office .

After a year on the board of the Caritas Foundation for the Archdiocese of Paderborn, he took over the chairmanship of the Paderborn Diocesan Charity Association in March 2013 as the successor to Auxiliary Bishop Manfred Grothe . At the same time he is chairman of the board of trustees of the Caritas Foundation for the Archdiocese of Paderborn. On September 7, 2013 he was accepted into the cathedral chapter of Paderborn Cathedral . Thomas Witt is also a member of the board of the Franco-German St. Liborius Fraternity . Since 2016 he has been the special representative of the Archdiocese of Paderborn for refugee issues.

Witt has been the head of the Borchen pastoral network since September 1st, 2019 and at the same time a member of the Paderborn Metropolitan Chapter. After modernizing the statutes of the Diocesan Caritas Association, Witt was relieved of his duties as its chairman and appointed chairman of the new Diocesan Caritas Council. From autumn 2020 he will take over the management of the pastoral room Elsen - Wewer - Borchen .
