Thor 3 is a former television satellite of the Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor . Originally it was mainly used to transmit Scandinavian-language programs to 0.8 ° West.
The satellite was launched in 1998 and was designed to operate for at least 12 years. Even after this time it was still used at 4.3 ° West, where it transmitted data for the Middle East . The transmission took place in the Ku band.
