Thorbjørn Risager (born May 19, 1971 in Gundsø ) is a Danish musician who moves between the fields of blues , R&B , rock , jazz and soul . He studied at the renowned Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen . In 2002 the guitarist, singer and songwriter founded the septet Thorbjørn Risager Blue7 with musicians from the Copenhagen blues scene , with which he recorded the 2004 debut album Live .

In 2005 Risager was named Danish blues musician of the year. From the second CD, From The Heart , his albums were no longer released under Thorbjørn Risager Blue7 , but only under his name. Since the 2014 release Too Many Roads , the formation that has been expanded into an octet for the recordings has operated under the name Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado .

In addition to his band, Risager also performs in a duo with the pianist Emil Balsgaard . He names Ray Charles and BB King as his role models .
