Three Rivers is a settlement area defined for statistical purposes ( census-designated place ) in Tulare County in the US state of California with 2248 inhabitants (status: 2000). The geographical coordinates are: 36.27 ° north, 118.53 ° west. The settlement area has a size of 117.5 km².
Three Rivers is located in the foothills of the central Sierra Nevada , approximately 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Visalia and 60 miles (96 km) southeast of Fresno . The nearest town is Lemon Cove about 10 miles (16 km) west. The site extends for several miles along California State Route 198 .
At the eastern end of the village is the south entrance to the Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks , which include the General Sherman Tree and the General Grant Tree, the largest trees in the world. Tourism is therefore an important economic factor in the place. West of Three Rivers is Lake Kaweah, a recreational area.
