history

In the third Bavarian Herzog Urbar is mentioned that a Dimarus Heinrich von Postmuenster an strokes in hove received (Oberhof = Thurnstein). Thurnstein Castle, later a castle, was the seat of the lords of the Postmünster-Thurnstein Hofmark . From 1508 to around 1597 Postmünster-Thurnstein was in the hands of the Paulsdorff family. After several changes of ownership and the auction after 1648, the Strobel family ruled here until 1661, followed by the Imsland family. After 1730 the estate came to the Gant and was acquired by the Counts of Goder before 1750.

After the death of the last Count zu Goder on March 1, 1789, the goods fell to his sister, who died on August 9, 1792, and then to their daughters. In 1818 the property was auctioned by the Baroness von Venningen, who sold it to the royal treasurer Ludwig Graf von Geldern-Egmont in 1836. Today Thurnstein is owned by the family of the Counts Basselet de la Rosée . From the beginning, Thurnstein was part of the municipality of Postmünster, which initially comprised only five and now 153 districts.
